Translated by Tatiana Rudyak
I left Russia in 2019. Immigration, pandemic, and the war that started recalibrated my worldview significantly, awakening this feeling of helplessness against the events that radically change my life but cannot be influenced. I acutely feel my personal upheavals intertwining with the shared tragedy, making me feel powerless and sad.
In this work, I am contemplating how connections between people can strengthen our positions, offering support and solidarity. But they also limit our freedom, taking away the power of decision-making.
This painting reflects my vision of war and of people who participate in it, in different roles.
