Translated by Tatiana Rudyak

Once, there came together a composer, a patriarch of choir music from Odesa Emmanuel Val, a concertmaster and vocalist from Kharkiv Valery Oleshko, and a vocalist from Jerusalem, Natalia Belenkaya, accompanied by an ex-muscovite Natalya Korshunova, to record a composer’s collection with lyrics of Ukrainian folk songs, created by him in the 1970s.

“Arrange the existing ones”, his colleagues suggested but he insisted and put folklore texts to his melodies. Unmistakeable, yet unforgettable.

We believe this is a suitable soundtrack to drift in an arc across the floodwaters of our times.
